Rise of the Social Entrepeneur

Wealth accumulation is today’s primary measuring stick of success.
That uni dimensional approach has helped the fortunate to enjoy lifestyles of modern kings. It has democratized access, tools, and information, towards an explosion of affluence.
Yet, the moral DNA for aligning this new power with natural systems carrying capacity, and global equity, has fallen behind utilitarian advances.
For those of us who are beneficiaries, life is good. We’ve slid into slumber around our stewardship responsibilities as lineage carriers for spirit, soul, and balance. For the Future.
Warning signs of systems collapse in both the biosphere, and economic and political realms, are increasingly obvious.
We need alternatives that inspire next generations with ambition for contribution to the common good. Society must motivate with more than money.
The “Social Entrepreneur” is destined to become one of tomorrow’s heroic archetypes. Those who work from a deep calling to serve humanity and the biosphere, are inventing a new way of doing business.
It’s the early stage of this necessary revival of bigger longer picture thinking and doing. The social entrepreneur navigates in uncharted waters. They face both the pressure to meet long entrenched standards of business behavior, and the call of the commons and compassion for what serves.
The coming decades will reveal if a generation of social entrepreneurs will have the determination, stamina, and courage, to shift the culture, ethics, rationale, and meaning of business.
Let’s do all we can to support them.
